reduc-me.txt

reduc-me.txt - - - - for 9-20-05 clips from 'ecotechnology' by callum coats,
spliting viks.png into half and saving as .jpg for cd-rw
is it the correct jpg-type?
pic-types from least to bigest: png-gif,pcx,bmp,jpg-tif

method one: use irfanview.exe to save .png as .bmp,
.bmp was select-saved again on paint-program
and for some reason was less mem.
then use paint-program\image\attributes to
reduce width to one-half, ?use irfan or? to
save .bmp as .pcx, save .pcx to .jpg by
pictview.exe\f2-convert note: turning off
virus-watch -windows -and other mem-using
programs(screen-savers, music,etc)frees
pictview to convert larger images.
if dont have msdos, use dos-box to run
pictview.exe, x52a.png of victor-pics was
the first to use this method, see pics.

method two: png to pcx by pictview.exe or irfanview.exe,
at zpaint(image95 scanr) 'select' half of
pcx, copy, at irfanview 'paste',save-as pcx,
use pictview\convert pcx to jpg

method three: convert png to jpg with pictview, no cut.

comment: colors 256? can be reduced to 2, which may
speed loading, shrink mem size? or not work on
the dvd-player. test it.

comment: dvd-player with jpg+mp3 player may not accept
jpg from pictview. at library get pics directly
from internet to cd-rw. then dvd-player.

comment: if jpg is hi, dvd-player will shrink jpg-width
to fit all of image on one screen, or will it?
use zoom or left-right arrows?, save jpgs with
differet specs, to see what works best,
example: 1100 x 700 , 640 x 480, 640 x 1100 ,
740 x 480 prefered (nadar pics did great)
517 x 900 ?
-end-
